Tips on organizing a great cleanup
|
Keep your group small. |
| |
- Six to ten people is about right. Lots of small cleanups around the world will make a big impact; larger groups, while good in theory, take much more time and lots more resources to organize.

|
Pick a good location. |
| |
- Choose a spot that's close to everyone in your group.
- Think about areas within local beaches, parks, town centers, public schools, highways and other public areas that a small group can clean up in a day.
|
| |
|
Think about logistics and supplies in advance. |
| |
- Carpool with people or, if possible, use public transportation.
- Bring gloves, trashbags and any other supplies you might need.
- Share your group's cell phone numbers and other contact info in advance (Google Spreadsheets are great for this).
- Identify the closest emergency services and get their contact information.
|
| |
|
Share useful information on Google Maps. |
| |
- Use placemarks in Google Maps to share carpool pickup times and locations, the cleanup location, mealtime locations, the nearest public transit, and the nearest emergency room and phone number.
- To learn how to create placemarks, see our step-by-step tutorial.
