- Dec 25, 2011 I got sick of the faceless chain-gyms. Tried Excel Fitness and love it! Great location! Great staff! How many gyms do you know where the owners are the first ones through the door in the morning and last ones to leave at night?!? Very active in the community too! There is a reason they were voted “Best Of” by Hartford Magazine three years in the row!
- Dec 17, 2011 I write to strongly disagree with the five star ratings here. The facility is adequate and they offer a variety of services as many other gyms do. However, my disagreement is regarding how they manage their business. They expect a commitment of one year's membership and have none of the flexibility of the “no contract” gyms. In my case, with the best intentions, I signed up last March – a membership that came complete with three personal training sessions. However, things simply did not work out as I had hoped. A new job with very demanding travel expectations has kept me from going to Excel – and I have used the facility only twice since joining (both in the first few weeks of my membership). However, I continued to pay each and every month hoping that somehow things would change and I could begin using their services. After nearly 10 months – it is clear that this is simply not going to happen. - May 5, 2011 After having a complicated pregnancy and giving birth to my first child I knew that in order to be the type of mother I wanted to, I had to get back into shape. I was very hesitant about what gym to join or even where to begin. I came across the "14 day trial membership with 60 minute free personal training session" coupon and figured what the heck! From the very first time I called the gym the staff has been very professional and courteous. When scheduling that initial session they were willing to give me two 30 minute sessions or use it all at once. They were very flexible with my schedule and were willing to accommodate to when I needed to be available for my newborn. The first meeting was so positive that I bought a training package! My daughter is now almost a year old and I am pleased to say that I am fitting into my pre pregnancy jeans! I couldn't have done it without the encouragement of the staff at Excel Fitness!
