Elliott Bay Bikes is a great shop, especially for repairs and parts for high end bikes. They pay close attention to detail, and are very careful with my bike. In addition, the owner is extremely patient, and happy to spend time helping dial in bike fit and give advice on biking in the area. Note* their focus is on high end bikes, and they aren't the place to bring your rusty beater in when you have a flat tire.

I am a do-it yourself repair person and I've bought rims, tires, spokes, hubs, and other replacement parts here. They know racing bikes like no one else in the area. I got a lot of good tips on wheel building and my wheels came out great. I recently had a crank bolt fall off and they spent 20 minutes looking at every possible fix before they gave up and ordered the part from a dealer. No charge other than for the replacement bolt. I had my frame break at the dropout and they did a picture perfect repair weld and I'm back on the road. They are a specialty shop, catering to upper end & custom bikes, but they do have some middle stuff in stock. Mostly Bianchi and some Civia. Bob and Bill are always helpful and I've shopped there for years. The bike art hanging from their ceiling is well worth a stop in even if you don't need anything right now.

Brought in a one inch tire with a flat. Their mechanic said I needed a new tire. I said no problem. A half hour later the mechanic had struggled to get a 1 and 1/8th tire on my rim straight, but had managed. What part of one inch did these guys not get? Now it won't clear the fork on my road bike. I know we all make mistakes, but I specifically replied one inch when he asked what size I needed. And the tire he took off was a one inch. News Flash: Your disinterest/condescension doesn't pass as "seattle bike rat charm" if you can't get a simple flat repair right for fifty three dollars.

These guys are the best I wouldn't take my bikes anywhere else. They have forgotten more about bikes than you or I will ever know. They've always given me the best service and a straight deal and they have what I need. I've bought three bikes there and will probably buy another. Whining about an $8 repair? Gimme a break, I've left bigger tips there! Try to get anyone to open the hood of your car for $8. It'll never happen. Maybe you should take your bike back to K-mart where you bought it! Oh that's right, Kmart doesn't work on bikes. I'm glad they are still down town. So many bike shops have tried it there and failed and these guys have been there for 27 years. And they have the most amazing museum of vintage bikes to look at. I go in just to gawk sometimes. The best bike shop on the planet.

Customer Service? I ride every day as a commuter and also for fun because I love it. This shop treated me like an ignorant little girl, patronizing me for my apparent inexperience. They have no idea what customer service is, and they also appear to employ people with poor to no social skills. Go somewhere else. There are so many bike shops in this city - there is no reason to give them your business.
