The Alte Pinakothek (Engl. Old Pinakothek) is an art museum situated in the Kunstareal in Munich, Germany. It is one of the oldest galleries in the world and houses one of the most famous collections of Old Master paintings. I went with my wife on a Sunday while visiting Munich, and I was glad we only paid the Sunday admission rate of 1 EUR/person. You can get through this museum pretty quickly, as there are very few placards to describe things (most every painting only has a little tag with its artist, title, and date). Most of the works here are German or Dutch/Flemish, and I think they are all from the 17th century or earlier. While there are a few interesting works, overall I thought the selection was a bit lacking, and I will almost certainly skip this place if I go back to Munich for another visit in the future.
