Great record store. | Friendly knowledgable staff, TONS of new and used music, great selection of vinyl. The prices are a little bit steeper than what you'll find in most chains (Hastings, Barnes & Noble) but not that much more, and it's worth it to spend the little bit extra since they keep such a great variety of music in stock. Their hip hop section is chalk full of great, lesser known rap acts which is mainly what keeps me going in on my weekly trips for my music fix. |

Once upon a time this scene was happening | What a difference a couple years can make. Boise had some great cd-record stores back in the day. Like many struggling indie cd stores this one seems pretty STRESSED by the times and they try to sell anything to stay afloat, coffee, cards, stale bakery items and whatever. For the nostalgia it's worth a visit especially if you miss the music snob, who could care less, cd store clerk thing. But hey they're big in Boise. The live music that goes through Boise aint half bad and the Old Boise Guitar shop down the block is top notch. Check out Amoeba in LA, Millenium in Portland, Dusty Groove in Chicago, Jerry's in Pittsburgh or Waterloo in Austin for a much better retail store groove. Or perhaps just embrace the future. Online music has its merits or buy direct from the artist websites. -Ian |
