Overall: 1 - I've been thinking about this place since I've been there, and I just wouldn't recommend it. I went to have my memory upgraded, having been referred to them by the Mac Store in Annapolis. They upgraded my memory. And I appreciate them for that. But the things they did not do are why I won't go back. 1) When fixing my computer, they had to create a MacMedics account. When I picked it up, not only was the MacMedics account still on my computer, but my computer defaults to that account upon start up. They said it was because they forgot to get my password before I left. True indeed, I could have remembered to give it to them. But the fact that they didn't call or email to get it from me, and left the account on there costs me time and hassle every time I use my computer. I'd have to call that laziness. 2) when they upgraded the hard drive, they left it named untitled HD. Why couldn't they take the time to rename it what it was supposed to be named? I guess my biggest issue is this ...
Overall: 3 - I have had a multitude of malfunctions with my ipod touch and Mac Medics really helped me and was very patient with me and my ipod. Their techs worked quickly to resolve my problem. When the first fix did not work and ipod freaked out, I went back and they were just as quick, just as patient and saw the problem through to the end. The owner even gave me a credit for the first repair that wasn't the issue. They are fair, polite, timely and communicative. I have already reccomended the service to a close friend that was in a big bind that Mac Medics also solved, even though the Apple Store could not. If you are looking for service for your mac needs, this is the place to go!
Overall: 3 - A Apple representative recommended this place when my hard drive crashed a few months ago. Although they were unable to fix the issue, since it was mechanical, they were more than helpful. They were empathetic to my situation since the hard drive contained pictures/videos of the first two years of my daughters life. They were so helpful and knew exactly what they were talking about. They informed me of my option and recommended the best way to go about the situation. Their recommendations were far from self-serving and were shaped to fit my needs, even if that meant they would lose money. I will never go anywhere else. Everyone there is amazing. They even took it a step farther, since it is a bit of a drive for me, they looked at my computer with in 15 minutes (even though they were closing) and called me so that I could pick it up before I left the area. AMAZING
Overall: 0 - I don't know how these guys got the previous positive ratings. Must be a change of ownership, or the owner's Great Aunt Bertha wrote them all. These guys took my computer with a small crack in the display screen and told me they could fix it, no problem. After almost a week, they gave it back to me with a BIGGER crack in the screen and told me they did not know how to fix it. The worst part is that when I asked the owner what he was going to do to compensate me for creating a larger repair problem, he said, "nothing, sue me". Don't trust these people! They clearly don't know what they are doing, and the owner is a jerk.
Overall: 3 - The employees at Mac Medics were so helpful and polite. When I girlfriend went to the Apple store they belittled her, talked down to her, and made her feel even worse about the problems she was already having with her MacBook. Mac Medics took the time to explain what the problems might be, how they may be resolved, and the different levels of pricing that may result from the work. I would recommend for any Mac owner to use the services that Mac Medics provide. I know that in the future if I have any problems or when I need to replace my old MacBook, I will be returning to Mac Medics.
