- Nov 2, 2011 We were volunteers at Cape Lookout in July 2011 and enjoyed delicious meals at the Fish Hook when we returned to Harkers Island (from Cape Lookout Lighthouse). We also enjoyed Ms. Faye, her great home cooking especially the Down East Lemon Pie (AWESOME) and her friendliness. Ms. Faye was so kind and she made the visits better. The food was delicious. We were always treated like family. The food was always great. Service was good too. We will return on our nest visit.
- Sep 12, 2010 Very good for what you get :) We were on the Island for a week and stopped at the Fishhook for supper and we had seafood and pizza and both were great. Our cheese pizza was $10 for a 16 in pie and it was very good and kid friendly. The seafood was good and the service was attentive. Its nothing fancy but the prices were great and it was a place we enjoyed eating on Harkers Island.
- Dec 31, 2008 Changes at Fish Hook Grill ... not good changes Once again, this place has changed management and operations. Over the past year it was operated by a couple from Raleigh. The place was cute, the service was great, and the food was fresh, trendy and fantastic. Now it is operated by a group of crabby old locals as a museum want to be monument for the island. The service is great if you enjoy watching the server having an all out brawl with her boyfriend in the parking lot, the cook telling you that you will get your food when you get your food, while wiping the sweat off her forehead, and then getting limp, greasy, underseasoned, poor quality frozen food. And, do not ask for an extra 'paper' napkin. Apparently they are tightly rationed.
- Dec 31, 2008 What happened to this place???? The pizzas this past year were great with great toppings! I would suggest that you stop in Morehead City to eat your dinner on the way to Harkers Island and leave plenty of time to drive back their for your meals. This place serves terrible food, with a terrible attitude, and in a dank environment. If you don't want to drive back and forth to Morehead City to eat, be sure to stop at Lowe's Foods there and pick up all the food you want. All you'll get at Fish Hook is the local favorite of rutabegas and frozen Jeno's pizza while being stared at by all the locals who secretly hate you for being their in the first place. Do not waste your time or money!
