- Sep 12, 2010 It was ok While staying on Harkers Island for a few days we wanted to experience some of the local dining - so we went to Captain's Choice. The decor was maritime which was good. The Menu had a lot of choices and we were brought hushpuppies as we sat down. The hushpuppies were very good, however that was the only above average part of our experience. Our party of 4 had surf and turf, crab, a hot ham and cheese, and shrimp. None of them were very good. Our service was really poor (we were all out of our drinks for more than 20 minutes with wait staff standing around talking and looking at our table). For the price of our meals we would rather have gone to morehead city for dinner.
- Aug 7, 2011 Saturday night seafood buffet was delicious. I wish that I could have made room for all they had to offer. They served the local version of clam chowder and a large variety of fried seafood. It was agreed that the clam strip were the best we have had in a long time. We also tried the deviled clam served in a clam shell, flounder, scallops, oysters, and fresh local cold boiled shrimp. All were about as good as you can find. We even tried to squeeze in a couple bites of veggies and slaw. They were good but we had to keep room for all the terrific seafood. The salad bar looks fresh and very inviting, but as I said, priorities kept us away. Captain Steve was a wonderful host. We will certainly make a return visit for another taste. Oh, and the tea was so good we asked for to go cups.
