rude. | I am a shadyside resident and frequent coffee shops regularly to do work and what not. I have been "OK" with going to Coffee Tree until today. I accidently picked up the wrong drink at the counter and the barista "ripped me a new one" as my friend that was with me described it. She barked "we don't remake drinks, you have to keep that one". So I had to apologize and feel horrible for accidently picking up and taking a sip of the wrong drink. I've ignored their grumpiness up to this point but now FORGET IT, there are plently of other options. |

I Like this Place | Ambiance and background music conducive to relaxation, chatting with people, or getting some work done. Comfortable for most people, although apparently not recommended for miserable rich bitches or their superior little brats whose ear holes shan't be stunned by urban language deemed unsuitable by mother of the year. |

Nice atmosphere, mediocre coffee | If Starbucks espresso drinks satisfy you, you should find yourself delighted here, but not otherwise. The baristas must have had just a single day of training by another barista of the same caliber and so forth! Even with La Marzocco grinders and espresso machines, the espresso shots are pathetic and often dreadfully under-extracted. Interestingly they do not bother tamping the espresso and let the grinder does it for them. I asked them to tamp my shot a tad harder and they pulled out a plastic tamper from a corner which needed to be washed. The pouring is also rather uninspired; they froth a huge pitcher of milk for multiple uses and use a spoon to put the froth on top of the drinks. For anyone who has ever had a proper cup of latte or cappuccino this should describe the kind of quality they should expect. The environment is quite nice though and the garage-like front that is opened when the weather is nice outside is quite charming. |

yeah, but... | Sure the space and coffee are great, but the young women who work here are obnoxious. One swore right in front of my five-year daughter while we were ordering our drinks. More often than not there are no pleasantries, not even a thank you. It's a shame Pittsburgh has so few good options, thus making this into a popular spot. |
