Wont honor their own (non-expired) Coupons!
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 By iamawinner - Jul 6, 2009
I have been going to this restaurant on and off for about 5 years now! I stopped going a few years ago because their food is just not worth the cost, but i noticed that they started printing buy one get one free coupons on the back of Fry's Food Receipts so i started to go again a few times a month! The last time I went to Chinese Gourmet I was told that i would not be able to redeem the coupon that they paid to put out! The coupon was not expired, They were just unwilling to redeem the coupon! While there food is not bad it is not worth $23+Tax for 2 people and i was not going to give them more money for not fulfilling their coupon! I left the restaurant, went directly to Red Dragon and for $17 had more food than me and my girlfriend could finish! Chinese Gourmet is still paying to have these coupons printed and not honoring them... I don't mind the cost as much as I mind being lied to! If you are looking for good Chinese food in this area There is: [Red ... More »

Terrible. Unclear takout rules....
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 By RazzleGames - Jun 19, 2009
Patron for 10 years, not anymore. Story: They now offer takeout for about $8 in which you can fill up a large container full of mongolian grill plus either soup, a small container, or a drink. We ordered this, and the first thing off I noticed was the owner (oddly) followed us around like we were a criminal and made snide comments on each ingredient we placed in the small container and that we shouldn't put too much in. He does this each time I've gone, but I thought it was to be helpful at first. When it was nearly full and took some effort to close, the owner said they would have to charge us $1 more since it was so full. I laughed, thinking this was a joke. Nope, and he looked pissed. But the container closed just fine. He insisted... Ok guy.. no problem, I can handle a $1 if you are that cheap. So on to the big container, we filled up the Mongolian grill container to the max, per the rules, and were angrily told that he "did not know so much could fit in this ... More »

But the container closed just fine. He insisted... Ok guy.. no problem, I can handle a $1 if you are that cheap. So on to the big container, we filled up the Mongolian grill container to the max, per the rules, and were angrily told that he "did not know so much could fit in this container" and would have to charge us $5 extra (which is more than half the cost of the meal). His excuse, "times are tough and we had at least 4 pounds of food". I suggested , "why not charge by the pound then?". I have no problem paying this price for the food, but the deal was "2 containers full of Mongolian grill" not per pound. You should make this CLEAR and change your rules. I asked if I could get a soup or drink container with the extra $5 I paid and was given a scowl with no answer. Had I known this I would have went to Red Dragon just one block south, where my every move is not ridiculed and contested. REALLY Mr Gourmet? Maybe you should redesign your offer. Or learn to do simple volume estimations for the containers you are using. Then you can assign a REAL cost average that you can use to produce a higher price that is an estimate of FILLING the containers, which is your CURRENT offer, and naturally what customers will do to maximize the deal. « Hide

I'm not big on Chinese Buffets. This one is exceptional. The food is fresh and invitingly presented. They have several islands with different types of food including a salad bar and a fresh seafood bar. There is also a mongolian BBQ in one ...
