Canter's Misleads the Public | I ordered a turkey dinner, which they list as costing $12.95 on their website. They told me it was now up to $15.95, plus $3 delivery fee. I told them I wanted ALL DARK THIGH MEAT. I got ALL WHITE MEAT. DON'T ORDER DELIVERY. Go see what you're getting. |

Walk into Canter's and feel like you are back in the 1950s. I'm not kidding. The menu is the same and the building hasn't changed one bit. This is a kosher deli and bakery that serves up huge home made corned beef sandwiches on rye, or any other bread you can think of. The meat needs a little salt, but I tend to think that about all LA food. The sandwich comes dry so prepare to slap on some mustard. Look to Canter's for traditional kosher food, such as a huge helping of chopped liver (which I did not try) and matzo ball soup. The main ingredient in the baked goods is sugar. Expect to get blown away and stuffed by the tingling sensation of sweetness in your mouth. While the cheesecake brownie, and chocolate cake were ok, the danish was above average and the sticky cinnamon nut roll was intense. I highly recommend the roll as its so sugary it oozes apart and crunches. Expect to see many elderly people having lunch and Guns and Roses memorabilia (because of the owner's filmmaker son). This place is also good for larger groups and families with children 6 and up as they have lots of seating and huge semi-circle booths. Make sure you check out the mural on the south side of the building and get your parking validated for the lot next to the restaurant.
