By michael R. - Mar 25, 2009| This restaurant is now closed at this location. It is still operating at the W. 4th. St. location where you can get decent, cheap eats. I like the Japanese breakfast. ... |

Terrible! By A Google User - Mar 13, 2009| I used to eat at Dojo as an nyu undergrad and it was affordable and pleasant, but went back today to horrible service. The waitress barely greeted us and had a dour unwelcoming demeanor. She also added $4 to our bill of only two menu items, and then conveniently disappeared! We had a difficult time of flagging down another staff member to address the problem, as the whole staff seems to be in the practice of ignoring their customers. What's more, the person who eventually corrected the error was rude and didn't offer even a cursory apology. Food mediocre, service terrible, and be careful, because they will try to scam you by writing the bill illegibly and charging you extra! A total ripoff! |

By becca o. - Jan 21, 2009| The food here is perfect, the service is not. But if you're a student or on a budget, this is the best place for cheap vegetarian food. The tahini sauce is nothing short of amazing. ... |

By Catherine K. - Oct 27, 2008| As far as affordable eating in NYC goes this is the best! I've been going to Dojo's for about 17 years now. It's great to eat on the budget, but the service is consistently terrible. ... |

By Racheline M. - May 20, 2006| I know Dojo is beloved by many as a source of cheap vegetarian meals and brown rice, and these things are true. But I've gotten food poisoning from there twice! There's better, cheaper, more interesting and safer veggie food in this town, ... |

NYmag $ "Dojo is perfect for people who like Asian food but can't handle some of those crazy Asian ingredients. The bland favorites of cash-conscious NYU students offer noodles, rice, tofu, and vegetables (mostly carrots and broccoli) in vaguely Asian combinations (rice stir-fried with vegetables, noodles stir-fried with vegetables) and Western adaptations (tofu whipped into a garlicky dip, soy burgers). Meat does, occasionally creep into the picture—in the form of actual hamburgers, curry beef yakisoba, and a seafood noodle soup—but it’s handled in the same slapdash manner as everything else. Even the cafeteria meets rec room decor lacks originality and flavor. What should you do if you get roped into a meal here? Scoop up some Dojo dip (tofu, miso, and garlic) with a toasted pita point, down a pint of Bass or Kirin, and savor this thought: With all the money you save here, you can splurge at Le Cirque next weekend. — Matt Gross"
