- Feb 27, 2012 Staff is squirrely at best, dishonest at worst. The owners wife is a problem too.
- Jan 25, 2012 Horrible service, imperious owner. Went to Local 16 for a State of the Union watching party, and arrived early to have dinner with friends. The restaurant had set up TVs all over the restaurant so people could watch. The food was good but not spectacular, the service was uneven. The trouble started when speech started and a woman across the room started talking loudly to her companions, oblivious to the dirty looks of all the other patrons in the restaurant. Finally a member of my party went over and politely asked if she would mind keeping it down since the other patrons were trying to hear the President's speech. One of the staff came over and asked what was going on and we explained that the woman was interrupting everyone in the dining room's ability to hear the speech. - Dec 7, 2011 Local 16 is one of my favorite staple spots. It's not quite Dupont, not quite Adams Morgan, and just on the fringe of the "U Street Corridor". It's not a restaurant... not a bar... sort of loungey. It has an upstairs roofdeck which is nice for that brief window where it's warm enough to exist outdoors but before it gets *so* nice that everyone thinks "yay lets hang out all night outdoors". Once you get there, game over for the roof deck, as it becomes sweaty bodies packed in. This evening was nice. Still a little chilly, so the heat lamps were out. Nice sized crowd and good music as always. The bartenders were nice. Only downside I remembered in general is the rooftop area closes at 1AM. They started flickering lights and shooing us back in, and I hate feeling like cocktailed cattle. But a fun night. Good spot to meet up with a more significantly sized crowd. Next time I'll have to mix it up though and venture outside of my comfort zone.
