- a month ago Decided to give the river casino a try, though I have been to many other casinos around Chicagoland, and i'm happy with them. Heard mixed reviews bit thought I should check it out for myself... Friendly people, but very expensive, high mininums, I didnt see any penny slots, all were 2 cent slots. Got a free buffet after I waited in line for a half hour, one I got into the buffet, I waited another 15 minutes to be seated. Extremely over-crowded... Dont waste your time... go to horseshoe.
- a month ago The only thing good in this casino is the buffet. (Only if you can get it Comp'ed for free of course) Very rude staff (Security - bunch of little kids acting like rent of cops...wanting to kick people out of the casino) (Pit bosses - stuck up in their own little world) Friday/Saturday Night -> You will be bumping elbows, no room to gamble in peace. Very crowded - be aware. High Limit tables / Expensive Drinks ($25 min Blackjack - which are full) This casino is going to RUIN Chicago. Horseshoe is much better, (Lower Limits/More Comps/More Slots/More Tables/More room to gamble/Nicer Pit Bosses) If you can afford the $3.50 Toll to get across to Indiana... GO TO Horseshoe - Avoid the bullshit from Rivers and their staff.
- a month ago After reading the reviews, I was a little apprehensive about going to the Rivers Casino. It's only a 25 minute drive from our house, so I figured it was worth a shot. I was very pleasantly surprised with what I found. It's clean, tastefully decorated and I found ALL of the staff to be very professional and polite. We went on a Saturday night so it was busy, but we had no problem finding machines to play. Since I'm not a poker player, the lack of poker tables did not bother me. The size of the casino was perfect for me and my husband. In no way would I call it a "hole in the wall". All in all we had a very nice time at the casino and plan to return. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn just a few steps away and I must say, it's a top-notch hotel. The accommodations and service were outstanding. Don't be discouraged by the reviews. Check it out for yourself.
- a month ago Not busy for a Tuesday - half full - slots don't pay out much but I did walk away a winner - have my own system to beat the computer controlled slots - won at $15 blackjack (4 out of 5 hands) and walked away. I like the side bets on blackjack - makes it interesting. Yeah the drinks are high but its a nice looking place and yes there are too many hard core, scummy looking people gambling away there life savings of a week. But, I noticed plenty of couples enjoying themselves.
- 2 months ago What a joke... This place is making a killing!! $5 atm surcharge.. $4 beer.. $10 mixed drinks.. Expensive food, $25 minimum table games and the tighest slots I have ever seen. They're robbing Chicagoans blind and nobody cares!!! ... This place has to go!! I live 10 min away and would rather go to any other casino than this tiny hole in the wall. Stay away. Zombies inside. I know.. I was one of them.
