- 4 months ago The room was okay and it was clean, but it was the incident that happened that made me never want to stay with this chain again. I'd reserved my room weeks in advance of my business trip to Des Moines. Picked this place off of a recommendation from a friend. Went to bed at 10ish. At about 12:30, I woke up because of a noise. The door was slightly open (as far as the door lock protector thing would allow) and there was a guy trying to push his way into the room. I hopped out of bed and said "get out of my room!" and he said, "What?" Come to find out, he had just come to the hotel to get a room and had been given the same room I was in. We went down to the front desk and the girl working said that my room had been vacant. When they looked me up by my name, they had me in that room. When we asked how that was possible, the girl said that this happened all the time and it was just a glitch in their system. A glitch? All the time?!?! The guy was assigned to a different room and I went ...
- 4 months ago We've stayed here twice, each year we travel do Des Moines. This is a great hotel and much better than comparably priced hotel chains in the area. I like the log cabin, rustic motif which I think gives things a different feel. We've had good experience with the staff we've interacted with and they do a good job of keeping things tidy and neat. Our heater wasn't working right and a guy was at our door in 20 seconds and fixed it in 30 seconds. The pool area looked nice and has decor that makes it different than the way other hotel pools look...it's actually a big place with an LCD so you can hang out there for a few hours no problem. The exercise room is pretty basic with a universal, 2 treadmills and a stationary bike. I thought it was a bit dark in there but not enough to dock a star. The arcade was basic with a few older games so I took my kids to an arcade a few miles away. I like the location too...walking distance to the movie theater and other restaurants. The conference room ...

- 10 months ago Great place to stay, very comfortable. Almost like being at home but better.
- a month ago We booked this room online because we were going to des Moines to see family for Easter. When we got to the room, it was extremely small. When we asked if we could upgrade it a bigger room they said we could and told us the price difference. We were all set to upgrade to a cottage when they said that they were also going to charge us for the smaller room. The room we were going to upgrade to was over twice as much as the original room. They had no reasoning for refusing our request to not be charged for the room we weren't happy with. We ended up not doing the upgrade and we will never stay here again
