- Feb 10, 2012 Great hotel- good location, easy to catch bus to any location. Easy to walk anywhere on Michigan Ave. Very good price. View was great from front side of hotel. Would stay there again!
- Feb 7, 2012 Yes, we did enjoy our stay, even though it was for just one night. We had not been in Chicago for over 25 years and were reacquainting ourselves with the city. We do not usually stay in downtown hotels, so it was a treat for us to stay in an elegant old hotel within walking distance to everything. The staff was wonderful; helpful, efficient, and courteous ; the bell captain, the bellmen, the valet, the desk clerks. It's like the good old days kept alive. We will certainly be staying again, now that we have both retired and have made Midway our favorite Chicago airport. A Chicago Cubs game next spring?? Music fest in the Summer ?? Who knows !!! Thank YOU !!
- Feb 1, 2012 We stayed here for a week, when I first started looking at hotels I was concerned with the low review ratings for the Congress. I read one other review though that stated that the property was excellent if viewed for what it offered; I must say that I am glad I chanced the stay. From the moment we arrived the staff was pleasant and so very helpful. We did have to wait an hour for our room only for the fact we arrived early but they checked our bags allowing us time to start exploring. I suggest spending the extra to stay in one of the "Lake View" rooms, it was grand to start the day looking out the window at the lake and park. Nice to be within walking distance to most all attractions, we only took a cab to the museum of science and industry, the best of all places visited must see IMAX "HUBBLE" The hotel is older, but has much to offer that the new cookie cutter hotels do not; that being charm and a true touch of elegance. There were only two times I was ...
- Jan 28, 2012 I stayed here during Lollapalooza music festival and you really could not find a better place to stay! The 2 bedroom suite I had was very reasonably priced (especially considering such a major event happening at that time), and the entrance to the festival was literally just across the street in Grant Park. That particular summer was brutally hot, so it was nice to be able to just run back to my room for some refreshments and air conditioning (and clean bathrooms/shower) if I needed to. The lobby has a great bar and concierge service that hooked me up with great places to eat in the area and other activities to do. The only bad thing that happened was when the elevators broke, since they are so old and the hotel was so packed with festival guests. But it was no problem walking up and down the stairs...being a tough youngen and all!
- Jan 21, 2012 The staff were wonderully accomodating at the front desk and were able to give us an upgrade for my boyfriend's birthday. The room was warm and quiet and the sleeping was restful. We utilized valet over self park because the difference of a tip or two and $5 was totally worth it. We look forward to our next visit and hopefully can explore a little more within the hotel.
