- a month ago Overall: 3 - I bought my Trek Rumblefish between deployments in 2011, having it fitted and tuned to me and Eggbeaters added before I rolled it out of the shop. Price was very competitive; staff was helpful and engaging. Offered a cup of coffee or soda, I enjoy chatting with Jack and his staff about interests in mountain bikes and nearby trails. I took it in for a free, post-purchase frame tune-up this week. The mech went above and beyond to true the rotors and give the entire bike a once-over that resulted in a very fast and responsive ride on a local singletrack ride. Shop is clean, well-organized and stocked. If they don't have it, they have the catalogs and links to easily order it.
- 3 months ago Overall: 1 - Service is okay. Sometimes I get ignored by staff and the prices are pretty high. There's also a limited variety of products.
- 11 months ago Overall: 0 - I had a flat tire, so I went in to get it fixed, and meanwhile, I decided to purchase a liner from the shop and get them to install while fixing the flat. They charge labor twice!!!! Simply because they have to put in the liner before putting in a new tube??? I think this place is ripping people off. Shop likes this one won't be able to survive in a regular city...
- a year ago Overall: 3 - The Bicycle Shop is hands-down one of the best local bike shops I've ever been to. Their staff is friendly, professional, and clearly both knowledgeable AND passionate about cycling. The interior of the shop is spacious, open, and well-stocked -- so you can find what you need and get back on your bike in less time. I highly, highly recommend this shop!
- 4 years ago Overall: 3 - The Bicycle Shop in Jacksonville, NC I moved into Jacksonville about a month ago and decided I wanted to get a bike for riding. I found the The Bicycle Shop and was really shocked at what a nice shop they have in the small town of Jacksonville. This shop rivals any shop I have been to in my life. I would have never guessed a shop like this would be there as I have driven by the location many times and never went inside. The owner Jack and his staff are extremely knowledgable and have many of the latest products. They even make their own bikes and have a full blown machine shop in the store to handle the most unusual requests. They have all the bikes from kids bikes to road and mtn bikes. The prices seemed really good also. The shop also has a nice service department and will work on any brand of bike. They are also a good source for information if you are looking to find trails to ride on, a local bike club, or group rides and races. As another poster said ... Just look for the crazy painted VW bus.
