| Along with Stephanie I've been to Uncle Billy's a handful of times mostly to enjoy their cold pitchers after a long bike ride. On my birthday a great waiter even treated me to a shot of Patron. However, the last few times I've been there it's obvious the place has gone downhill fast. The service is now abysmal and inattentive. Everyone who works there looks miserable and like I'm the last person on the planet they want to see. And the food is awful and overpriced. Their hamburger has to be the worst I've eaten in town (and as Austin is well-known for its good burgers, that's a travesty) and they charged me 8 bucks for it - without cheese unless I pay extra - with an utter lack of presentation. Crown and Anchor cheeseburgers with fries are only 5 dollars, so good and cheap bar food CAN BE DONE. I will be encouraging my friends to never go there again and steering all bike rides to other venues from now on. No wonder Shady Grove was packed to the gills even on a work day and this place was empty. Honestly, has the place changed management? It used to be one of my favorites. « Hide |
