The reviews here are confusing three stores: Treasure Island -- a grocery store chain claiming to be America's most European supermarket, expensive but decent, replaced the defunct Hyde Park Co-op Bonjour Bakery -- a decent French bakery run by a family from France Subway -- you know what that is These outfits are all very close to one another, hence the confusion. « Hide

After having lived in Europe and in a few different places in the US, I can say that this neighborhood café of ours has the BEST breakfast rolls ever. They're not sickeningly sweet like Cinnabon. I especially love their Morning rolls and their Belgian rolls. Nothing like starting off a Saturday or Sunday morning with a cup of their rich coffee and one of their rolls. I only wish they were right next door to me and not 4 blocks away, or else I'd be there every day. « Hide
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 They don't exist anymore. - Lilithcat - Jul 18, 2008
The place was hugely in debt, close to bankruptcy. As a result, it was sold and is now a Treasure Island.

I went here twice. Both times it was JUST my boyfriend and I inside. The menu has a lot of EVERYTHING (random), although I think they are trying to push their baked goods now. (???) It was kind of dark and dingy in there, kind of a southwestern theme, so many plants it looked part-greenhouse. I am ALL FOR supporting businesses in the Hyde Park area- but this one needs some help with its game. I live 2 blocks away, and for about a year or more now- can't find a reason to walk back into its doors. « Hide

This is a great authentic French bakery hidden in a small cafe. I think the lady that owns it is from France. All their bake goods taste like the great patisseries in Paris. If you want real French baguettes, this is the place to go. They also have great tarts and cakes. Their chocolate cake with chocolate cream is unbelievable. « Hide

PRICE GOUGERS BUT SOMETIMES THEY HAVE GOOD SPECIALTY FOODS. Go to Jewel Osco on Roosevelt instead. I live close by and go to buy basics. One positive thing I can say is that they carry large size Soy yogurt. No Kashi products though :( Watch out for wrong prices too. Sometimes an item is advertised as on sale, but then it rings up full price. Prepare for an attitude if you dispute the price. Beware of Willa, a terribly mean manager. Buyer beware. « Hide
