If it were possible to give a lower star rating for this terrible place, I would. I have never dealt with such an insensitive, poorly run animal clinic. My wife and I took our cat to AEC on July 4th after he had been vomiting. Their treatment of our cat made him worse. Unfortunately, since we are new to this part of Los Angeles, we didn't know any other place to take him. I would strongly recommend that anyone try and avoid this clinic at all costs. We did end up taking our cat to Pasadena Veterinary Specialists where Dr. Vivian Yau worked diligently to save our cat. I recommend Pasadena Veterinary Specialists highly. Forget Animal Emergency Clinic if you value the health of your pet. « Hide

My dog was attacked by a coyote and the clinic took my dog in right away to check on his status. The doctor was very nice and came out to talk to me about the situation, what to expect. The doctor/staff were all very helpful in answering my questions and kept me posted on the status of my dog after surgery. I was allowed to visit my dog many times after surgery and the doctor was willing to stay with me during the visit to explain to me everything that was going on at that time. I am very happy with this clinic and would recommend it to everybody. « Hide

From the moment I walked into the Animal Emergency Clinic I knew I should have walked out from what I saw: An unkempt office and techs milling about with no purpose -- and certainly no care for our dog. After a tech took him to a back room the vet emerged and said he needed more than $1000 in tests, not including Parvo, which is prevalent and matched his symptoms. He did, however want to X-ray our dog for diarehhea(!!!!!!). All these tests were recommended without the vet ever taking a look at our dog. After talking to the vet, we left because I felt no confidence in the quality care we were going to receive - but they refused to return our dog until we paid a $75 Exam Fee for an exam he never did. « Hide

I had a very good experience with Animal emergency clinic at pasadena. The doctors and staff were very honest and caring. They gave me honest openion about the condition of my pet and gave me different options for treatment. I left my buddy for over night treatment and picked him up in the morning. I came home very satisfiied. The next day some one from their office called me and told that I have a refund for some service that they did not do and I was charged by mistake. It was a surprise for me,it rarely happens these days. I apprecite at their honesty and I hope every body learns to appreciate the good people. « Hide

Thanks to the staff and the doctors at Animal emergency. They saved by two pets within the last few months. They were open when I needed them desperately during the middle of night when one was attacked by neighbour's dog and other had a bone struck his throat. I took them in my arms in critical situation and got them back walking in the morning. The doctors and staff were fast and treated them with great care and perfection. Thanks to be there. « Hide

This is my experience with the Pasadena emergency clinic (sorry if it's too detail). I have a maltese recently got attacked by a wild cat while doing her business in the backyard at night (we live near the mountain). There was a quarter-size bloody circular wound on her thigh. I brought her in to the Pasadena Emergency Clinic. First, they brought my dog in for examination while I filled out the information form. Then I was placed in a room to wait for the doctor to listen to her observation. The first thing she said after entering the room was "it is a pretty deep wound. There are muscle torn in the thigh and it'll need surgical operation to repair the muscle. We can perform the surgery here tonight." She even "showed" me how "deep and sever" the wound is by pressing on the wound and said there's a hollow area due to the attack. I pressed it and it felt like soft tender meat, not hollow to me. Anyway, she later gave me a quotation of minimum $943 up to $1200 for the surgery. I was debating whether to take the recommendation. I put my dog on the floor wanting to see if she can walk. She walked slowly with her tail down. So I told the doctor to just give my dog the out-patient treatment and I'll bring her in to our primary family vet in the morning. They did that for my dog and we left (after paying over $200 for the exam, one shot of painkiller, one shot of antibiotics and cleaning the wound area). In the morning I brought her in to our family vet, he examined her, pressed her wound and said she's fine. It's just a clean puncture wound on the thigh. If there was muscle torn, the leg would collapse when she attempted to stand. At the end, our family vet gave a bottle of antibiotics (oral) to prevent infection and a bottle of pain reliever (oral) to make her feel better while letting the wound heal itself and all that cost just a little more than $60 compare to $943+. God knows what they would do to her if I had agreed to do the surgery. I gave the emergency clinic one more star because they did help my dog felt better that night with the shots of painkiller and antibiotics (for infection). In conclusion, they are there to help you if you know what you need but they do not necessary give you the honest opinion. « Hide

My 7 year old Cavalier almost died of Congestive Heart Failure due to Mitral Valve Regurgitation. She was on the appropriate meds but worsened rather rapidly. After she collapsed and was unresponsive I rushed her to this Emergency Clinic and was immediately rushed in. The nurse started an IV within a minute while the Vet gave oxygen. She was given Lasix and a nitroglycerin patch and within a few minutes was responsive and even wagged her tail. My family was allowed to visit and hold her while she was hooked up to an IV and oxygen. The next day they were kind enough to transport her to our Vet across the road. I have read some of the reviews for this Emergency clinic and as an ER doc I understand that it is hard to please all customers. I have nothing but praise for all the staff and the care. Sure it cost a fair amount but this is emergency care which is always expensive due to the overall expense of running a 24 hour emergency clinic. The subsequent 24 hours of care by our vet was not much less. Overall my family was thrilled with the TLC! « Hide

My dog Simba was vomiting uncontrollably and after a few minutes of arriving there the vet had diagnosed him with Paro virus in the terminal stages. If they hadn't immediatly hospitalised him he would have died till morning. They had to revive him several times and gave him lots of blood, I will never forget how critical he was and how impossible a task these people performed. They did not overcharge me and being a med student I know that no unnecessary tests were done.I was surprised to see bad reviews especialy after seeing a miracle being performed before my very eyes. No matter what Simba owes this Vet his life and I am eternaly gratefull. « Hide

I took my cat to this Emergency Clinic on Sat. night b/c he needed more antibiotics for his bladder infection, and his regular Vet was closed on Sun. He was still emptying his bladder with the infection so I knew this was not an emergency, emergency. A male staff who had awful speech took my baby and would not allow me to come with him. I was upset about this and my husband was trying to calm me down. I COULD NOT SEE MY CAT THE ENTIRE TIME! The worst part was, I had to hear my cat screaming for 15 MINUTES in the room next door! He was screaming like he was being tortured. I started crying and almost vomited. NOT A SINGLE STAFF MEMBER CAME IN AND TOLD ME WHAT WAS GOING ON. My husband and I had to sit there listening to our buddy scream for his life. Our cat is the sweetest, most passive cat anyone could meet. He loves people. He is always complimented on his behavior at the vet and with everyone he meets. A+ personality. There was no one at the front desk while the horrible screaming was going on and no one came and told me what was going on. Only 1 of the 3 techs were pleasant. The bill sucked, but that's how emergency works. One really good thing about this place; they faxed all the information to our regular vet without any problems. Which is great. Please do not take your loved one to this place! They deserve not only to be treated, but to be treated with love. Your feelings as a parent also need the up most consideration. This place does not cut it. « Hide
