Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Dimly lit bluesy place - Shannon L. - Aug 25, 2009
This place is done with dim lighting and a very modern atmosphere. The food, which we had buffet style, was decent Indian food with lots of options. It's kind of hidden, but a pretty good place to get lunch. ...

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Good lunch special - sansdieu - Jul 30, 2009
I often head there for lunch with my co-workers. The food is very decent, if somewhat limited in selection. Service is good, although I've had to ask servers to restock some of the dishes on a number of occasions (they constantly ...

We went at a time when there were not many people around. Although the restaurant needs to be renovated and restructured, the food and service were great. I totally recommend Chicken Tikka for starters and trio Nans. I havent had such a juicy and luscious Chicken tikka in my life. Just Yummy!! Wide Variety of Nans to try from. For main course we kept it simple and had trio Sabji. It was authentic and to taste. Over all I love the food and Service. Great place to go if you are around Commons. « Hide

It was a Friday night, and we were up for a change in the theater district. I hadn't eaten here in years, so I decided to give it a shot. I had the lamb. To my amazement the food was extremely tasty. The lamb was nicely seasoned (as opposed to being overwhelmed with spices and salt as i would have expected) and the veggie had a nice natural grilled flavor. Quite amazed by this popular night spot, rare in Boston to be paired with good food. As we finished wine, we noticed they were moving tables so we headed over to the bar and stuck around. The crowd was attractive, and the music surprisingly current. Usually these clubs play house and hip-hop that's so played out you'd rather turn on the radio. The music was upbeat, mashed up and current! I'm thoroughly impressed by the huge step up Mantra has made in the last couple years. I will DEF be going back. « Hide

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Valentine's Day disappointment - hopin4more - Feb 17, 2009
After reading another review of Valentine's Day at Mantra, I wanted to share my similar experience. My husband and I were surprised that there was only a prix fix menu. After being sat, we waited a long time before a server came ...
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Worst meal I have had in Boston especially... - djs3 - Feb 15, 2009

I purchased 10 tickets for their New Year's Bash and was terribly disappointed to say the least. My friends and I arrived around 11:00 pm and waited 30 minutes to be seated. When I approached the hostess, she curtly explained to me that I had to wait because "everyone has reversed tables." I interjected and explained to her that my friends and I arrived before other people. Instead of seating the large party, she proceeded to help her "friends" who arrived in pairs and didn't even have tickets. I basically observed her getting tickets for her "home girls" at the door. Needless to say, I was upset and went behind the register and explained to one of party organizers what had happened. He quickly addressed the issue and my friends and I were seated in a corner by the bar in a small space. Another hostess approached us and apologized because she noticed the look on my face. She explained that "things got messed up tonight". I told her this was unacceptable and that we could all barely sit in the small seat. At best, 4 individuals could sit in the small space. We were also given a bottle of champagne with the table which the hostess poured. This was indeed first class service, expect the small bottle of champagne ran out before my boyfriend, his friend, and myself got a flute. I can truly say this was a RIP-OFF. For $100 a piece, my friends and I sat in a corner and barely had any bubbles. CAUTION!!! « Hide

We went there with our friends for a fun filled lunch(great sounding indo-french menu!!), but the first look after entrance was appalling. The place was like a make shift arrangement of a tornado shelter area(big hall with old walls and lights) and few kind of old tables and chairs. There was no ambiance and whole place had a dull 'cold' feeling. The servers were just busy chatting to each other and guest were forced to search the items from very few entries (1/3 of published menu). It was a very disappointing visit to Mantra and food was not worth the money and time. « Hide
