| Brace yourself for a big disappointment. To begin, nothing has changed in this restaurant since 1985 - the decor, the menu, the staff... As with most restaurants on Maui the waitstaff are not really waitstaff, so exceeding guests expectations doesnt exist. Just try requesting something not on the menu and youll be told "no sorry, the owners feel this works best". Dont expect much on your plate - just the meat, no vegetables, and small servings at that. They have the most pitiful salad bar you have ever seen. Too bad they cant capitalize on all those organic farms growing around them. Broccolli goes well with steak, so does squash, chard, fried tomatos with onions... well forget it, you cant get any of that here! The steak selection is very limited, and my glass of wine was oxidized from the bottle being left open for too long. The acoustics are bad so diners around you can hear every word you say. Its deathly quiet, no background music. Its a business, its not really a restaurant. There is room for an upscale steak house in Makawao with all the trimmings, unfortunately its not this one. « Hide |
