Report A Problem

What is it?
One of the exciting things about maps and geography is that the world is a constantly changing place, and keeping on top of these changes is a never-ending endeavor. It's the sort of challenge we like to take on here at Google, and we want to give you the opportunity to help with a new tool on Google Maps. After all, the best experts on a place are the people that live there. Report a Problem enables you to tell us about changes in the world around you that aren't reflected in our maps. It's also a tool for letting us know of any edits or suggestions you have for our maps.

Has that new highway on-ramp finally opened up? Do we have an outdated name for your local school? Was Main Street converted into a pedestrian-only walkway? This tool enables you to tell us about it. For now this is only available for the US.

How to access and use Report a Problem:
1) You can access Report a Problem in a couple of places:
  • Right click on the map and select "Report a Problem"
  • Click the "Report a Problem" link at the bottom right of the map
  • Click the "Report a Problem" link below driving directions
2) Tell us about your suggestion or problem with Google Maps. Some examples include:
  • Search results - let us know if we're missing your favorite restaurant or are missing a new development in your town.
  • Driving Directions - if you know a better route that the locals use, we want to include that as well.
  • General map issues - if streets are missing or roads are renamed, let us know so we can show them accurately.
3) Click submit to send us your suggestion or problem - and don't forget to include your email address so we can keep you updated on our progress resolving your edit.

This just gives you an idea of the sorts of things you can let us know about. If you can't find an option that describes the issue you have encountered, there is a general category that you can use to tell us about other map issues.

What is the review and correction process?
Once we've received your edit or suggestion we'll confirm it with other users, data providers, or Street View imagery. If you submit your email address when you submitted your report, we'll keep you posted on the progress of your suggestion or edit. We hope to address and resolve each edit within a month.

In some cases we might not be able to immediately confirm a solution to your problem. Please be patient. As more people tell us about the issue, we'll have more information that we can use to verify the fix we need to make. Remember, if you sign in and let us know you want to be kept updated, we'll keep you posted on any changes to the status of your issue.

If you have map data you would like displayed to millions of users around the world in Google Maps (such as homebuilders, state and local governments, or tourist boards), please see our Map Content Provider partner site for more information on how to work with Google.
